5G is a pipe weld. The axis of the pipe is fixed (pipe shall not be turned or rolled) in the horizontal position. The main thing is the pipe can't be turned or rolled while welding, if it could then it would be called 1G (flat). The "G" in 5G stands for "Groove weld". Hope this is what you where looking for.
