Howdy! I am outperforming my 1st welder now, and it's time to move up. I'm also moving up in my career, and wish to have a lil nicer tools er toys. Currently I have a small 120 v 130 amp (real world 90 amp I beleive) mig welder. It welds up to 3/16ths decent, 1/8th " nicely. What I am looking for, is an arc welder, preferably mig or multi-process, that can easily "real world" weld 1/2 mild steel in all positions. This would be for hobby reasons.... building more 4X4 lift parts and bumpers, roll cages, farm implements, flatbed trailer... and repairing those types of things. Any suggestions would also be appreciated! Thanks a ton! Brian Sparkeee24 EDIT: After a few hours of searching on-line, I see several multi process machines that appear to be good choices through e-bay. The XMT 304 looks common, and "affordable" compared to some others. What is the appropriate price for a good used XMT 304? Any of you folks have one to sell? Thank you very much! Sparkeee24

Good Morning Brian, The 304 is an excellent choice for you as it is single or three phase. Just make sure you get the XMT304CC/CV model as it is stick and mig. If you get the stock number 903-471, it is 230/460 which is what you want. A good unit should run from 1250 to 2150 here. Actually, there are other single phase machines out there, up to 450 amps.
Having said all that, consider this approach. There is no way to beat the value of a one-piece machine - power source and feeder in one box. Most of these are in the 200 amp range, although they go up to 300 amps and sell for 800 up complete. If you want or need the versatility of the seperate feeder, there are several 300 to 450 amp units around. Keep in mind the XMT is a 200 amp machine or so when you run it on single phase. Email for any info. Thanks, weldersales

Good Morning Brian,
The XMT 304 is an excellent multi process machine but if you want more versitility then I would look at either the 350P from Miller or the Power Mig 350M from Lincoln both are synergic controlled 350 amp power sources with built in feeder and can be easily upgraded to run push pull systems. I currently have one of each. You can contact me directly at 1-800-743-1109 ext 348

I agree with the last poster, the 350P Miller and Lincoln 350 are extremely versatile machines and we have had good results with them.
Each is in stock here. If you need more info/pictures, email. Thanks, weldersales
