Any one out there GMAW welding steel parts coated with Manganese
Phosphate coating. Is there a fume problem? Does it cause any weld
problems.

Seen the recent feature article about manganeese toxicity by the AWS psted on the home page? Keep out of the fume plume but if it was really bad the industry would be filled with Alzheimer's like symptoms... or was it Parkinson's?

I presume everything to be toxic and to cause weld issues; what ever it is I try to clean it off as standard practice
