We have just recently had a vendor tell us that all of the manufactures are now making only Dual Certified Stainless bare wire filler metals (ie. 309/309L).
Has anyone else heard this?
I have not had any literature relating to this come across my desk nor have we read anything about it in the trade magazines as yet.

The only difference between 309 and 309L is the carbon content. There is no minimum specified carbon content so that if the manufacturer controlled the carbon content to meet the 309L requirements it would also meet the standard specification requirements for 309, since 309 only specifies a maximum carbon content and the 309L would be well below the maximum carbon content.
