Hi
I am considering using a Standard Welding Procedures (listed in Article-V of ASME Section-IX), for Pressure-Vessel Welding. I have the following questions:

1. Do i need to register the procedure with my Provinicial authority? I asked them, and they say that i do need registration, but somehow it doesn't make sense to me. If that were needed, there would practically be no $ saving, and basically would defeat the pupose of creating SWPs.

2. The procedure qualifies me for the thickness range 1/8 to 1-1/2. What should be the thickness of the weld-coupon?

By the way, my welder is already qualified for the welding covered in this procedure.

Thanks for your help.

regards
Amb
