Hi Guys,

Its been a while since I've posted but I have a question about aluminum welding. Can you use helium to weld aluminum? (Its MIG aluminum welding if that makes a difference) Just wanted to know for my own thirst for knowldege.

Yes. Helium is suitable for machine and automatic welding with high currents in the flat position. Helium-argon mixtures are sometimes used instead of helium to take advantage of the arc stability provided by argon. Such mixtures may contain from 25 to 90 percent helium. Arc voltage, penetration, and spatter increase with increasing helium content.
