1990 Ford F350 with "Bakersfield" style bed. Comes complete with Lincoln SA200, 2 sets of oxy/acetylene bottles, torches, hose, approx 500 ft of lead and tools. Location: San Diego County. Reason for selling.. ahhhhhhhhh it's time to close this chapter of my life, and to tell you the truth, I have been real resistant to this one! I've been inspecting for 3 years now (have had CWI for 9 years) This truck will need to be painted.. it's pink! (but what else would one expect from The SheWelder? I'll even take off the chrome fellas off the mud flaps <wink> low miles - she spent most of her career in the refineries, chemical plants and paper mills in Los Angeles County. Moved to San Diego where there isn't any of that sort of work... had to pull out my inspection cards to get work. Turned out to be a good thing, but I need to sell my cherished friend and co-worker.

Dude that was posted almost 3 years ago?
Parent - - By J Hall (***) Date 07-20-2008 13:16
I would hope she has sold it. If not, I don't think I'd want it, LOL
This is what happens when someone post an ad or asks for help and then doesn't have the simple courtesy to follow up.
If they have the time for the original post, they should have time to post the results.

I'm sorry fellas, my life got busy and to tell you the truth, I forgot all about this post.   And you are right, simple courtesy or lack thereof, I am guilty big time.  But to let you all know, there is a fellow welder in Texas that had his rig stolen out of in front of the Home Depot in broad daylight, he called me today.  We settled on a price that he can afford to get him back up and running again.  So, I may have lacked some courtesy in this post.  But my heart is in the right place as I am practically giving it to him so he can work again. I guess the courteous thing here to do is to post that THE RIG IS GOING TO A DESERVING FELLOW WELDER.    God works in Mysterious ways!

I think it resembles a west tx bed but the box setup is different. And it isn't a step bed, just a single deck height. My hats of to you SHEWELDER.  May your good deeds come back to you two fold.

bakersfield has the same look of bob kings beds but alot shorter in length.alot of welders chop the frame behind the spring hanger and build a short bed. the top boxes are only about 3" deep. very sleek look.

Good for both of you!

And I'm curious about a Bakersfield bed too. Maybe like Douglass Truck bodies?
Parent - - By Douglas Main (*) Date 12-04-2008 06:17
Sorry for bringing this one back up, but yes bakersfield style is single deck or I believe lower work surface but the welder sits parallel to the frame rails of the truck. Most ive seen have the horizontal bottle setup front and two cabinets equal size on both sides of bed. So I guess its just for more storage space. They are pretty slick, I was checking into the ones that DOUGLAS TRAUCK BODIES builds out of bakersfield, and they are reasonable and can pick up at any point in the fabrication stage,(tacked, welded, primed, painted, or even wired and installed. The only down side is no place to throw the 2 5/16 ball on the bed. The welder pretty much covers any spot to mount and still be able to transfer weight up front. If any of that helps Ill try to get pics, of my buddies truck up.

I agree, the main thing on a Bakersfield style bed is they really tend to put the machine lenthways on the truck, a box over each wheelwell, not split level and a lot of them have that angled rake to the rear of the skirt.
If you see all or most of those components it's a pretty sure bet the truck was born in the central valley, and grew up in Oildale, Taft, Shafter, Lost Hills, ect.

JTMcC.
