A Project we are considering to weld duplex material A240 S31803 to Stainless steel 316L , like now I have qualify WPQR for Duplex to Duplex , can we use that WPS to cover weld duplex with 316L .

The P-number for Duplex (UNS 31803) is 10H, and the P-number for 316L is 8. That would require requalification.

I agree with requalification according to ASME sec.IX because the base metal is essential variable and when change the base metal you need to qualification.
