hello, curious as to what tungsten type is best for aluminum, for best results? thanks

For best results;

Zirconium doped electrodes (brown) were developed as a better performing alternative to pure tungsten (green) electrodes for welding aluminum.

Miller Electric suggests the use of Cerium doped (orange) electrodes for use welding AC aluminum with inverter power sources that have variable frequency.

My advice is to use Zirconium as it has the best overall arc performance and will hold an arc at the tip at lower amperages than other electrodes. If your doing work over 100 amps either electrode will do.

We at Arc-Zone recommend our ArcTime tungsten... it works really well on all metals, all machines, and you don't have to keep switching tungstens. It's also sold as TriMix here in the states, or MultiStrike:

and of course,
