Test positions are 3G+4G positions. Joint: Butt w/bevel grooves. Welding process SMAW. No split pipe backing used.

My intepretation of Table 6.3 is that 4 assemblies are required. As for testing, one option is subject all 4 can be tested by RT or as an alternate, 2 will be tensile and 2 will be macroetch.

Is this correct?

Another request. I lost my errata sheet for D1.4-98. Is there any link in the website with this info? I had made corrections to Table 6.3 but did not make them to Table 6.2. In Table 6.2 under sub-heading "Production Type of Joint", should the last item be "Indirect butt [6.5(D)]"? I am sure it is because the joint it's qualified for Fig 3.3 (C) has two splice bars just like Figure 6.5(D).

dschlotz,

Thanks a lot. These changes help.

It seems that I did not make all the changes in Table 6.3 as I initially thought I had. All I changed was the title..did this under pressure when I had to do an ICC SSW cert exam..forgot to renew the cert. Based on what you have furnished it seems that for Table 6.3 there should be additions under sub-heading "Welds Qualified for" for the following Qualification Test Assemblies: direct butt-joint and CJP T-joint. Could you please furnish this additonal information when you have some free time?
