Hi,

We have a pressure vessel to weld and I'm afraid I have never had to qualify a procedure for welding clad plate. Can someone tell me how to go about this?

We need more details please; type of material, thickness and code of construction, welding process, etc.

The base material is 1" ASTM 516 GR 70. This material is clad with 1/8" 317L plate. The vessel is being built under the ASME standard.

Thanks

Will it be subject to PWHT? With regard to the 1/8" 317L plate, how will it be clad; explosion bonding or? I'm *assuming* when you say ASME Standard you mean ASME Section VIII, Division 1? Which welding processes?

There is no heat treatment. The material is roll clad. I want to use FCAW.

Thanks
