For a matched Box T connection with Theta = 90° I have a fillet weld on two sides, and a flare bevel groove weld on the other two sides. Section 2.39.5.2 - 2000 shows the effective length for a fillet weld, but I have a flare groove weld on the side of the connection shown as a_x. (See figure 2.14 (B) of AWS D1.1 2000). What is the effective length of a fillet weld that is transverse to the longitudinal axis of the main cord? What is the effective length of the flair bevel groove weld that travels parrallel to the longitudinal axis of the main cord?
