Am I correct in assuming that a P-42 material, 1/2" thick requires 2 bend tests?

For procedure or performance?

If performance, it would require 4 bends if done in 5G or 6G; see QW-452.1, Note 1. If Procedure, would also require 4 bends if side bent; see QW-451, Note 5.

Okay, then if this is for a welder performance qualification in the 1G and 3G positions, QW-452.1(a) would require 2 side bends for each position although if you had equipment capable of handling the thickness, one face and one root bend could be used for each position instead of the side bends. From my own experience, I would use the 2 side bends from each coupon.
