Look for the code on the id plate of the machine. Go here

you can probably download the operators manual. Its probably 1342 but 1243 is also possible. Model T fords had an unusual crankshaft and were different but it isn't a model T. If all else fails take out the plugs, have somebody crank it slowly with the hand crank while you hold a finger over the #1 hole. When you feel compression in #1 hold a finger over #2 and #3 whichever you feel compression on next tells the story.

That was only in there to indicate that that was the only case that I know of where a truly unusual firing order existed. Those engines were used in industrial applications (I've seen them on agricultural sprayers that were still in use). The machinery would generally have been built in the 20's though and that would eliminate your machine. The instructions above (finger over #1plug hole...) will absolutely tell the tale.

Further research indicates that I was misinformed about model t crankshafts. The model t had the crank throws in the standard positions for 4 cylinder engines and used the 1243 firing order.

Look on the Intake Manifold some times the firing order was cast on to it
Parent - - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 12-31-2005 21:11
there is not an intake manifold on a lincoln welding machine

Well, if'n there is no intake manifiold, the firing order is the least of your worries.....(shaking my head)
Continental put the firing order on the cylinder head.

The distributor cap on the rear of the magneto has four segements which should be connected in the firing order 1-3-4-2 read clockwise from No. 1.
