Im wondering what the welding market is like outside of the USA? Im somewhat interested in canada in particular, are they in high demand and whats the pay for them?
In the future after i pick up more on this skill i may consider a work visa to canada, are options good?

Advice-Seeker;

In Alberta, they can't find all the welders they need. Especially high in demand are "B" presure welders with interprovincial tickets at the minimum. If you come to Alberta and can prove your Journeyman status, then all you must do is get your "B" ticket through ABSA. Right now pressure welder with a bunch of tig tickets seem to be in high demand. Not because there is so much tig work as the need for versatility at short notice is extreme.

I do structural work and there is no shortage of that either, whether it's commercial, industrial or otherwise. With AWS certification for structural, you should have no problem getting CWB certs for you own outfit, or you can simply work for someone else (employee, or contractor). This is much cheaper than certifying and insuring a company of your own,

Anyhow, my $.02
