Guys

I would like to use a " dip-tank" method for removing oxide buildup from some aluminum boxes we are welding.

What are people using or doing out there ?? what kinds of solutions are best? what is the cycle time for the dipping so it is effective ? What are the safety concerns with these solutions? Do these "dip tanks" need to be under fume hoods etc.... ?

Hope fully someone can help me fill in the blanks here.

Thanks in advance

Chuck

Dude, I weld Trailers straight out of salt water and I'd say that just grinding or sanding off the oxidation should be good enough. The junk will float to the top and it may take a couple passes to get a good skunk tail on it. See my thread under shop talk...
