I'm new to the complexities of weld inspection and need some help. Can anyone recommend a surface resistance analyzer that can be used to qualify and monitor the material prep processes for Mil-W-6858 spotwelding? I've seen some handheld devices using the parallel-bar method, but i think they give readings in ohms per square inch, not micro-ohms as indicated in the mil spec. They're relatively cheap (a few hundred bucks) compared to a device described to me by our equipment supplier (a few thousand bucks), that actually penetrates the material with probes at 500lbs of pressure. Can either be used? Can you recommend where I could purchase the preferred device?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
