In welding 18GA to 1/2" plate are there any advantages to using 90/10 Argon/CO2 rather than 75/25 Argon/CO2?

I guess it depends on the position your welding in. You'll probably reduce spatter considerably. In addition to that, you'll be able to reduce voltage also.

By out of position do you mean vertical? You should be able to weld vertical down without any problems... but I would cut and etch some samples just to be sure. The 1/2" plate is pretty heavy for that.
