Any info on welding titanium would be helpful. Never welded it before. Friend has 1/2" to 1/2" to weld and was wondering what rod, pre-heat min. & max., Does it need tempered? Any help would be great. Thanks.

To the most complete list given by NDT III, I'd add one I always recommend when titanium welding is involved: www.timet.com
It's the site of The Titanium Corp. of America, the world top specialists in that metal.
