Saturday, 21 October 2006
10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Wonderland Products
5772 Lenox Ave.
Jacksonville, FL 32236

This will be a demonstration of hand forging metal from the old fashion method of heat and beat using hammers, forging ovens and GMAW/GTAW welding processes.

The AWS North Florida Section (Section 110) is extremely excited to announce our section is doing a joint meeting with NOMMA, a trade organization for the miscellaneous metal working industry.  This meeting is going to be held at Wonderland Products which is family owned and operated.  It was established 56 years ago and specializes in ornamental iron.  They manufacture custom hand forged metal works for rails, curved stair cases and estate gates.  We are planning a fun day ranging from BBQ ribs, hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken and oysters.  This will be a casual event, watching the chain of events taking place as the Wonderland crew works toward the current project.  Eye an hearing protection is required.  All members of Section 110 and their guests are welcome.

I just found this site. I am not a AWS member but have an interest in working metal of all kinds. Can visitors come to this meet?

I'm not a member of that Section, but I would say a general rule is visitors are encouraged and invited!

53,
I don't belong to that particular Section either, so I can't put words in their mouth, but our Section(#179) welcomes visitors to all of our functions with the hope of sparking an interest and getting them involved to the point they want to be a part of our little family.  I think the reason for the AWS allowing us to place links to our meetings and section events is to draw vistors in and get the word out to non-members about these meetings and events, so that they can come and check us out.

Chiming in on the "I'm not a member of that Section...."

But here's the contact information for the North Florida Section:

Steve Mattson
Mattson Repair Service

Jacksonville, FL 32257
P: (904) 260-6040
F: (904) 260-9155
E: stevemattson@bellsouth.net

You may wish to contact Mr. Mattson since he would know the visitors' policy for that Section.

And, of course, you can always become an AWS member!

I'll chime in on the AWS Membership thing, it has been one of the smartest moves I ever made in my career so, whether you're into metal working simply as a hobby or if you're an old seasoned pro like many of us here, its a really great move!  ;-)

I am a member here and, yes, visitors are encouraged!  That is why I posted it.

I sent Mr. Mattson a note. Looks like I'll have to catch the next one as our state Studebaker club meet is in Jacksonville on the same day.
