| Miscellaneous | Without knowing what the future held, I put the future of my family in God's hands and after 15 years with the same company, I just up and quit my job because of an unethical plant manager and decisions being made to let things go that didn't meet codes and specs. Integrity is extremely important to me and I take quality very seriously. There are people's lives at stake, and quality, i.e. meeting the requirements of the applicable codes and specs. were repeatedly being sacrificed to save money. During this very difficult time in my life, I was constantly comforted with this verse from the bible: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding. Submit to him in all ways and he will make your path straight". I prayed for a better opportunity for my family and I, and after 2 months without a job, I was blessed with an opportunity in Atlanta with an AISC certified fabricator. We recently moved to nearby McDonough, Ga.and we bought a 38' RV that my wife, my 10 year old daughter, and I live in. By doing so, we've cut our living expenses by more than 50% and it's a much simpler life now. Plus, we're living in a location where people go to vacation and get away from it all. God has truly blessed my family and I, and after a very serious auto accident in 2010, I'm very fortunate to be alive. I am living proof that prayer works and I am very thankful for this opportunity in Atlanta. I used to frequent this great forum as swnorris. Now that I'm getting settled in, I hope to get back into it with some regularity. I have tremendous respect for the contributors to this forum. After over 37 years in the structural steel and misc. business, I'm still hungry for knowledge. This great website has been a very good source to expand on that. |
