Airgas - Terry Jarvis Memorial Scholarship
Airgas is the largest distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gases and related equipment in the United States, and the third largest distributor of safety products. The company's distribution network is comprised of approximately 700 locations including cylinder fill plants, specialty gas laboratories, branch locations, distribution centers, and inbound and outbound telemarketing operations throughout the U. S., Canada and Mexico. Airgas maintains the largest rental welder fleet in North America and also distributes industrial coatings, metal working and other maintenance, repair and operations products. Airgas is also the largest producer and distributor of dry ice, fourth largest producer of liquid carbon dioxide, and the second largest manufacturer of nitrous oxide in the U. S.
Terry Jarvis was an employee in the Birmingham, Alabama area that helped to make Airgas what it is today. Terry worked for Airgas South for eleven years. He started with Airgas as a truck driver and through a series of promotions became the Assistant Branch Manager in the Pelham, Alabama store. Terry was a well-respected, well-liked associate who was dedicated to Airgas. Terry died at the age of 39, and this scholarship is named in his memory. Through this scholarship, we hope to encourage others to get the education they need to have a successful career with an industrial gas or welding equipment distributor.
