I have a small independent welding outfit and have worked for my self as well as sort of sub contracting with different companies.
This week I got a call asking if I could pass a ss pipe test. I said uh, I think so. Well this company put me on their payrole as a regular employee, but I am working a shutdown for another company at a local paper mill. In other words, company B called company A and asked if they had pipe welders which could be furnished to company B for this shut down so company A called me.
I don't know how it works, but I am sure I am not getting the big bite of this pie. I am not insured my self and don't know if I will be covered by co. A or B. If it is B, then I could work for them without going thru A, then I could make what A is being paid for me.
Does anyone know how the insurence thing works? It always seems like the little guy gets the shaft.
