Hey can you guys tell me what the pipe boom is for. I see these on trucks from the TX and OK area on the web but up here in Ohio we dont have them on our beds. I still have a factory dually bed and I'm getting ideas on how I want to build mine. Thanks

its for a shade
Parent - - By jrw159 (*****) Date 05-09-2008 01:24
As stated, shade is one reason.

But actually it is, IMHO, somewhat like a third arm. If set up and utilized properly, it serves multiple purposes. It is an extension point for lead and ground, as well as electrical for grinding. It can also be rigged to hang grinders from, thus keeping them clean as well as safe and eliminating a portion of the many trip hazards involved with pipelining. I have seen some that were set up with a "rigged" army tent that worked great for an extendable as well as mobile welding "hutch".

There are many different styles of "booms" and I would be interested in viewing photo's of "multi-purpose booms".

It is really interesting to see some of the ingenious ways that pipeliners utilize this extension of their rig.

sold yet?
Parent - By jrw159 (*****) Date 05-30-2008 18:53
spanishtex,
I am not the one selling. I would suggest that you hit the reply option on the sellers post so that the reply notification will be directed to them. I am sure that at some point in time the intended person will see your post, but it will be much more effective and benificial for you to reply directly to them.

Good luck,
jrw159

Parent - By 52lincoln (***) Date 06-05-2008 01:34
you would just have to measure from the cab to center of wheels and width
Parent - - By Sourdough (****) Date 06-07-2008 00:08
A good deal for 1200, depending on how straight the iron work is......there's probably more than that just in the steel!

If I was closer, I would pick it up.
Parent - - By 52lincoln (***) Date 06-07-2008 00:13
