Do not cut the hole,in the run to the ID of the branch. leave alittle edge on the run will make it weld better. you will not have ti fight it as bad.Do not put a lot of bevel on the ears. that will keep the weld the same size all the way around.

3/16 7010 aka HYP rod good luck hahah just kidding I've never had a problem w /it just find your right temp.I have a 200d w/easy arc dial i'll run on 3rd gear (190)& 75- 80 to fill & cap & as far as running the rod, fast circles ,or side to side & long arc i don't hold rod to close. your 7010 & 8010 are real good about getting slag out  & leave better looking caps when you've got wind blowing compared to 5p or 5p+ & as always practice makes perfect.

Are you still talking about t branch 6G ? you got me there , 6G on 2 -12" coupons or whatever size I usually whip on hot pass- fill  & cap circles your bad side or bast--d side will tend to sag but just angle your rod in a position that you feel  you can pick up your puddle, it's hard to explain unless your watching someone doing it . & as far as t branch 6G never done it sorry.

Parent - - By ericpratt (*) Date 06-26-2008 03:38
do you need to turn your heat down as you reach the bottom?
Parent - - By rockin d (**) Date 06-26-2008 10:57
Ive seen welders do that so they wont get undercut ,but once you get your temp. right & rythm you don't have to.
