7018 AC electrodes are formulated with a flux that stabilizes the arc with low open circuit voltage (40 - 60 OCV) AC machines. They usually don't like long arcing at the start and show porosity as a result. Hobart & Lincoln both have offerings in XX11, 13 & 18s for low OCV machines (usually AC "buzz" boxes). For example, the Lincoln's Fleetweld 180 is a 6011 that was designed for the their AC 180 machine.
