I am not sure of what the size of the tensile sample should be for a 2F sample, 1/4" thk 1100 H-14 (aluminum).  The 1/4" thk plate seems to be too thick to get into the clamps of the tensile tester jaws.  Help!

I have an older D1.2 (90) but i don't see a requirement for tensile testing for fillet welds, PQR or welder qualification.

I'm sorry.  That should have been 1G, not 2F.....got my mind on others as well.

Looking at table 5.7 (90) Reduced Section Tension Specimens- plate and tubing note 6 states that: the min. nominal thickness of 1 1/2"  wide specimens shall be 3/16" except as permitted by the product specification.

What are ya gona do when you have to pull 1/2" thick specimens.;-)  Sounds like you need some bigger jaws.
