I bought a machine today and I'm not sure what year it is. I will post some pics as soon as I can. From what I can see so far everything looks the same as my 67 and the 63 I just sold except for the face plate is black and looks like off a shorthood, the lead studs, so far the only numbers Ive found on the engine is 228647. Tomorrow I will wash it maybe find more. Any idea

Could be an early 200 . a 56-60 used the old style plates . Without pics it is hard to say.

The studs are not just run through a hole the face is slotted and they are mounted on a plate. It looks factory and I have seen this style before I just cant remeber on what year machine. He painted it so much its hard to get any numbers or anything. But I welded with it for 20 minutes burning 3/16 8010. It didnt smoke, bog down, or anything. I may send this one to Kaye and keep it.

Does this look like it ?
Parent - By snuffman (***) Date 07-17-2008 04:01
I kinda thought around 58 or 59 but a friend kept telling me that those were short hoods. Now I think I can prove him wrong
Parent - - By snuffman (***) Date 07-17-2008 03:57
That looks identical except mine has never been updated.
Parent - - By pypLynr (***) Date 07-17-2008 03:59
Yep , you sir have a early 200... 56-60. This one is a '59.
Parent - By pypLynr (***) Date 07-17-2008 04:05
He is partially right and wrong... they made shory's and long hoods. This is the time frame when long hoods were intrduced.

Sir,Thankyou very much. As soon as I get some money gatherd up Kaye will be seeing this one. Hopefully I can get some pics tomorow, if not I will asap. The hood is rotted but the armeture and engine look good only the front seal leaks a little.

LOL :-) It has a few bugs since it was out in his goat pen for a year, it realy suprised me how it welded. Ill try and post some pics of the welds also. It will stack some iron, I cant get my 99 model 300 or 67 redface to cap as good with 3/16. I cant wait to soak a root in with it. Hek I may even go gets some gas play tonight. Im wired now.

Hey snuff, you ever find #'s on your machine? The pic I posted is a chopped machine and is 31" tall and 57" from radiator to panel . The guy wants $6500 for it. He lives in NE TX around Paris. I got his phone # if you know anybody looking .
Parent - By snuffman (***) Date 07-18-2008 14:44
No sir, I havent been able to get my pressure washer to work. I may just load it up this evenin and take it to the carwash. Do you have more pics? That sounds a little hig to me. I still cant get my camera to work. I think I pissed the gods off again, everythings falling apart. :-) Thats life though just gotta sharpen my spurs and grab another bite.

the output stud assemblies were the same on the old Hobarts. Thermal Arc still has them available part number 357668-001 but they want $80 a set. You will want to go with the long red face plate M8803 if you redo her. Better start PB Blasting the knobs now, so nothing gets destroyed when you pull them off.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any sheet iron for one new or used? Radiator?
Parent - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 07-21-2008 06:31
i've got a radiator for a 163 motor but i think the machine you have has a 162 in it not sure it will fit

Why would I want to go with redface plate and studs? Do you have one? Price? Im going to try and do as much as I can to it and use it tell I get enough money to send it to you.
Parent - - By KSellon (****) Date 07-18-2008 22:20
if and when your output studs break you will want to replace them. The redface sets off some bling.

Thanks for the advice. What do I need and whats a decent price for the parts to do that?
