I'm there man! I just got my El Camino running again and I loaded up the Hobart in the back. I have to get my propane bottle filled up for the torch though. But all will be ready when you call me! Golden Arm out.

Hey Golden Arm do you still have those spinner rims and the hydraulics on your rig ? Hobart ? I thought you had a bobcat ?
Parent - By jrw159 (*****) Date 07-22-2008 01:55

Golden arm Is that Hobart gonna handle the Jet rods ?
Parent - - By Stephen32 (*) Date 07-22-2008 02:32
No the kids down the road stole the spinner rims while I had my rig up on concrete blocks. I couldn't see them because of all the weeds. As far as the hydraulics, I had to disable them. Everytime I got in the rig I would accidentally hit the hydraulic dump button instead of the start button and dump my welder and bottles out on the ground. By the way Cactus, that is what happened to the Bobcat. I do believe the Hobart will handle the Jet rod, if not I will break out the electric one and plug it into your Vantage. It is only a 110v machine so yours can handle it. Hank down at Strickland Propane wouldn't fill my bottle though. You think I could borrow yours off the front of your travel trailer Cactus? It will only be for a couple of weeks, just untill I get a couple of checks in.
By the way Cactus, are you going to be giving away them platinum grinder awards this time?
Sorry John, no pics right now. Hard to find film for the polaroid.
Golden Arm out
Parent - By jrw159 (*****) Date 07-22-2008 02:46
Nobody uses polaroid slide outs any more. Wally World sells the disposable elcheapo's. :-)

Sorry to hear about your spinners.

I hear alot of talk about airbags replaceing hydraulics, but I don't know.

Can't relate to the weed problem since I never water my lawn, thus no need for a lawnmower. Best way I can think of to keep all my fingers attached to me. :-)

Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 08-01-2008 01:11

Parent - - By Cole Welding (**) Date 08-02-2008 02:01
on how thick of plate????
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 08-02-2008 02:31 Edited 08-02-2008 02:34
1/2" The test is a VERY basic test. But, I have been suprised at the failures. About 4 out of the first 14 Busted. API requires some kind of test be given so we used this one because it was easy. All welds will be Mag test anyway.
Parent - By snuffman (***) Date 08-02-2008 03:00
Thats a pretty simple test Im suprised you have had anyone fail. But like the old saying goes if youve havent ever busted a test, you havent welded or your god. lol  Are they just mag, or are you bending.
Parent - By kmp (**) Date 08-04-2008 20:05

Is this test performed in 1G-2G and 3G? I'm just curious. Won't be able to get on with You now, but as I've followed your posts, You seem to be in a position to have ample work for a couple years. Who knows maybe there will be room for me in a year. Gotta get done with my college degree work and get rigged up first.
Respectfully, Jeffrey

PS. Are you using FCAW on any of this build?
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 08-06-2008 10:40 Edited 08-09-2008 00:00
We have received ALOT of piping work. So, I am changing the test to a 6" schedule 80 6g with a 6010 root and 7018 fill and cap This test will qualify both pipe and plate
6010 is downhill for root and hot. 7018 is uphill for fill and cap. I know welders should know this but you would all be suprised how many times I am ask the question. You can use whatever size rod you want
Parent - - By thewelder (***) Date 08-09-2008 04:32
Hey cactus what rig-ins is need it? $1,000,000?
Parent - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 08-09-2008 09:28

Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 08-14-2008 01:34
There is if I say there is. Right now I need more pipe welders who can pass a 6g 6010root and 7018 fill and cap
