SNUFFMAN      ARE YOU ON MY JOB ? IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING OVER MY SHOULDER.
Parent - By snuffman (***) Date 08-17-2008 01:16
:-) Wish I was there but I have things to tend to right now that I cant go to far. Hopefully there will be a spot when I get it all taken care of, probably about 3 months.
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 08-16-2008 10:36
jrw159,  Your are right. but I am still like everyone else. I do have a life besides work. My phone rings now till 10:30 at night. I have even had guys come to my camper at 10pm at night. If people would use a little common courtesy sometimes it would be nice. Beleive me I have heard every question possible. I have had guys ask for a Draw before they even Test! I have been ask how many rainouts I expect this year on the Job. I could not resist Telling the guy that I would call Mother Nature and see if I could get an advanced forecast. I just happen to know thw President of XTO energy.( Fort Worth Division) But I wouldnt call him late at night or go to his house to ask for a job. I have had an Office phone installed and I will post the number tonight. I have a secretary that will answer all question. I will post the Number later today. Thanks for all your replys and YES I am still needing welders. I was told yesterday that it is even possible that within two weeks I will start a night shift. I have saved every e-mail sent to me and I am hiring from them.
Parent - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 08-17-2008 20:46
The Office Phone # is 325-597-4679 Mon - Fri 8-5
Parent - By swsweld (****) Date 08-17-2008 23:55
About that draw, am I getting it or not? :)

Sorry Catsusthewelder I couldn't resist.

I have given draws to newhires but after they pass the test.

You are correct, the late phones call and visits get old and IMO would not put them at the front of the list.

Cactus,
I hear ya partner. Sorry if it sounded like I was poking at you, that was not my intent. I can tell FULL WELL what you are dealing with, just from this forum, let alone the things not discussed that we all know happen in this line of work. You, my friend, deffinatly have a full boat right now. BUSY, BUSY. :-)

Keep up the good work,

jrw159

well what i was told last week  we were putting 1/2 plate on the bottom of the subs in a downpoor  "those of you who have slickers get out there and get to work, those of you who dont have slickers  get out there and help them"   its pridicuments like that that make you invint funny ways of putting your rod in the stinger
Parent - - By swsweld (****) Date 08-20-2008 02:01
That's funny!

I always place the rod on something and then grab it with the stinger.
I've had enough shock therapy to last a lifetime.
Parent - By snuffman (***) Date 08-20-2008 04:52
I hear ya I got plenty of shock therapy today.
Parent - - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 08-20-2008 05:45
been there done that but it was a rotary table out in the field got there at 2 am didnt start til 8am changing it out in a down poor they put a holy tarp over us and every spot there was a v block there was a hole and a steady stream of water running down ur back fun fun
Parent - - By mody454 (**) Date 08-21-2008 22:26

Parent - By mody454 (**) Date 08-21-2008 22:32
the worst part of that was trying to cut holes in the end so it would drain  unfortunatly it was already water tight and holding water  my rig isnt set up for underwater welding  you couldnt cut from outside cuz it was down in the mudtrying to push the water back and use work shirts to hold it back long enough to get a hole popped thru  ahh  good times  man i saw guys putting there rod in between there arm pits  man if it did light you up that would be a sensitive spot  i just try to hold it flat on my palm and hope for the best  **** even when its not raining when it is 105 and 100 humidity your clove fills up with sweat and you still get bitcouple weeks ago i was emptying sweat out my clove every 15 min just ringing wet like i dunked them in a bucket

mag test stick an electronic magnet to the weld sprinkle some red powder on the weld if it sticks grind it out and redo it your best bet would be to rig out take the test if ya get called and if ya bust out then try n get on as a helper but at what they are paying i doubt you'll find any of the guys looking me personnaly if i get on will not use a helper sorry with the cost of fuel supplies and motel i'll be doing good to send money home

ryan gaspard,  who are you asking ? If it is me , who did I ignore ? If it was a question about pay I am not ignoreing it but it has been answered several times. The pay is $55.00 per hour for welders. As for fitters, I am full on fitters. Are you a Rig Welder ? Can you pass a 6g 6010 root & hot 7018 out ? if so come see me. I am at Loadcraft in Brady Texas building drilling rigs. I have filled all positions I have for this week and as soon as I get material in I will be testing for another 25 welders Hopefully next week

Cactus
