I am looking for information concerning aluminum 7075 welding. This information can be for the 7075 base material and/or the 7075 filler metal. The welding process will be for (mig)GMAW, but any information about (tig)GTAW is welcomed.

It is my understanding that this material is not suggested for welding due to cracking problems. Again, any and all information, documents, websights, or any other information is welcomed.

7075 - Cu-1.6%, Mg-2.5%, Zn-5.6%, Cr-.2%, Al-90.1%. The best reference I have on this alloy comes from the "ASM HANDBOOK" 7075 is best welded with resistance welding. There is alot of information on the does and dont's in this book on welding 7075. Too much to list here. Can you find a way to access this on line? Or get a copy of your own?

Thanks. You gave me a starting place. I stumbled across more info at the Lincoln Electric site.
