I have this question about insurance. Basically that is the question. What are some company's out there that will insure welders. I talked to my allstate agent and they don't have anybody. It's for the business but I have not been able to find anybody local. Trying to get some figures together. Thanks for any information,

shawn

FWIW when I did have insurance my company had 2 types.  One allowed me to do everything BUT hitches on anything.  And the other policy included hitches.  Probably useless information but you never know,  I found out pretty quickly that in my area U-haul installs hitches a lot cheaper than I wanted to so it wasn't a big deal for me.  I still do my own and the occasional favor but other than that I don't touch them.  A lot of the hitches now bolt on anyhow.

Thanks for the info, have to give her a call. Not down in Texas though but maybe she knows more people and can point me in the right direction.

Cactus said she saved him a ton of money. It would be worth it to check it out. S.W.

Most of the guys working for me use her. A standard rig welders policy is about 350 down and 65 a month. It is cheaper if you pay all at once but I forgot that total cost. When I had that policy she saved me about 1000 a year. Rig welders is all she does

Does she do anything outside TX? Just curious. Thanks. Steve.

I'm not a rig welder though....actually not much of anything at the moment, kinda embarrassing to say what welding I do now but have to start somewhere right! Insurance is right up there with passing my 3g/4g.....yeah my welding at the moment consists of.......well, uhmmmm, gates, dumpster enclosure gates, light steel work like that, metal fence repair, some handrail and looking like some artistic metal work in some big window openings(13' x 13') may be my next project, at least two. Anyhow, but I plan on getting into more once I have my papers. But insurance is a must, don't want to burn down some building.

Well Susan can hook you up with non oilfield insurance for about1700 bucks a year. That's cheap!

Hey Sourdough!  Thanks for the shout out.  You are absolutely correct-we can help with all types of welding insurance coverages here in CO.  Regarding insurance for out in the patch:  In order to be put onto their vendor list, most of the big players are asking for $2,000,000 General Liability and $1,000,000 Auto Liability.  We do that here, in addition to Inland Marine and Excess Umbrella policies.  Using zip code 81650, check us out at:  http://www.farmersunioninsurance.com/farmers-union-insurance-agent-results.cfm
Warm Regards,
Susan
