I am prepping for CWI exam, using API 1104. I am very familiar with it, as I am a pipeline nde inspector. I just got confirmation letter, and they said I need an original copy of the code. I have a legal copy, from a company database, but no receipt. Will they give me trouble at the test site for this? I refuse to pay $200 for a code that will likely never be approved anyway. Most everyone is using the 18th Edition, and they have never approved two editions in a row, so buying the 19th is a waste of money. But the AWS doesnt care how much it costs to get certified, do they? What the hell do they do with all their money????
Good question(s).

You are right they are playing a money game now. I renewed my CWI four yrs. ago & the tester never checked our books. The price to keep your CWI every 3 yrs. gets higher every couple of yrs. This startring to get a very expensive business to be in for the amount of work there is out there. They have flooded the market with CWI want-to-be's because they'll TEACH YOU TO PASS THE TEST.
Heres a thread with a response from AWS that may be of interest.

Thanks for your responses. Isn't it nice to let off some steam sometimes?
In this line of work you'll find that your going to be letting off a lot of steam. It's going to surprise you on how many people thinks a QC department is a overhead that must be absorbed for political purposes.
BINGO! I couldn't say it any better!
