I know there was a post not too long ago about buying used 2 3/8", but how does one go about getting used drill stem directly from the rigs? Do they just sell the stuff after one time use? Do you just need to know the right people? I see it for sale anywhere from $1-$1.50 but I'd like to buy a rather large amount directly from the source. Does anyone have any contacts?
You cant buy it from the rigs that I am aware of. The pushers do not have the authority to sell it. You need to go to the Drilling Contractors office and bid on it. Most of them sell it to buyers who will pay a kickback so......... be ready for that one. Hootens Welding in Emory Texas usually has a large supply of used pipe at a good price.
Just out of curiosity, what do you mean by a "kickback" Cactus? They have to pay a premium on top of the set price?

I got the machine running I picked up from you awhile back. It runs really good, that flat four sounds beautiful. Gunna be sand blasting it and powder coating it soon.

Ya, that's dirt cheap. Only problem though is the logistics of it. Your 1000+ miles away and thats 14 hr drive, plus I can only haul about 100 sticks at a time.

I just sold it all. Sorry, I know where there is a bunch more. I'll talk to the guy and see if he wants to get rid of it for 50 cents. I'm thinking that the smaller pipe is around 120 pounds, the bigger stuff, of course will be another 30 pounds or so.
