sums it up in a nut shell

The Year is 2012....

It's in the way you dress...the way you boogie down...the way you sign your unemployment check. You're a man who likes to do things your own way. And on those special odd-numbered Saturdays when driving is permitted, you want it in your own car. It's that special feeling of a zero-emissions wind at your back and a road ahead meandering with possibilities. The kind of feeling you get behind the wheel of the 2012 Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition from Congressional Motors.

All new for 2012, the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition is the mandatory American car, so advanced it took $100 billion and the entire Congress to design it. We started with the same reliable 7-way hybrid ethanol-biodiesel-electric-clean coal-wind-solar-pedal power plant behind the base model Pelosi, but packed it with extra oomph and the sassy styling pizzazz that tells the world that 1974 Detroit is back again -- with a vengeance.

We've subsidized the features you want, and taxed away the rest. With its advanced Al Gore-designed V-3 under the hood, pumping out 22.5 thumping, carbon-neutral ponies of Detroit muscle, you'll never again be late for the Disco or the Day Labor Shelter. Engage the pedal drive, or strap on the optional jumbo mizzenmast, and theGTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition easily exceeds 2016 CAFE mileage standards. At an estimated 268 MPG, that's a savings of nearly $1800 per week in fuel cost over the 2011 Pelosi.

Even with increased performance, we didn't skimp on safety. With 11-point passenger racing harnesses, 15-way airbags, and mandatory hockey helmet, you'll have the security of knowing that you could survive a 45-MPH collision, even though the GTxi SS/Rt is not capable of that kind of illegal speed.

But the changes don't stop there. Sporty mag-style hubcaps and an all-new aggressive wedge shape designed by CM's Chief Stylist Ted Kennedy slice through the wind like an omnibus spending bill through Congress. It even features an airtight undercarriage to keep you and a passenger afloat for up to 15 minutes -- even in the choppy waters of Cape Cod inlet. Available a rainbow of color choices to match any wardrobe, from Harvest Avocado to French Mustard. Inside, a luxurious all-velour interior designed by Barney ("Lollipop") Frank features thoughtful appointments like an in-dash condom dispenser. A special high-capacity hatchback holds up to 300 aluminum cans, meaning fewer trips to the redemption center. And the standard 3-speaker Fairness ActoPhonic FM low-band sound system means you'll never miss a segment of NPR again.

Best of all, the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt is made right here in the U.S.A. by fully card-checked unionized workers and Detroit 's famous visionary jet-set managers. Even if you don't own one, you can enjoy the patriotic satisfaction of the knowledge that you're supporting the high wages, good benefits, and generous political donations that are once again making the American car industry the envy of the world.

But why not buy one anyway? With an MSRP starting at only $629,999.99, it's affordable too. Don't forget to ask about dealer incentives, rebates, tax credits, and wealth redistribution plans for customers from dozens of qualifying special-interest groups. Plus easy-pay financing programs from Fannie Mae.

So, take the bus to your local CM dealer today and find out why the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition is the only car endorsed by President Barack Obama. One test drive will convince you that you'd choose it over the import brands...even if they were still legal to import.

It truly is amazing how many people in this world that can do so many things better than the people who are really doing them but don't.

Dave

This is really wonderful satire!  First rate writing!  Prescient prophesy too!

Does the watertight undercarriage protect one against the waters of the Chappaquitic river?

That is an option in the Kennedy Signiture addition.
Nice addition, Joe.

This stuff is hilarious.

If you think that's funny, you should read his three page book "Ted Kennedy: The Sober Years".
Parent - - By OBrien (***) Date 01-07-2009 23:13
It made 3 whole pages.   Thats impressive
Parent - By BryonLewis (****) Date 01-08-2009 14:25
Yeah, I read it.  1 page is Table of Contents, 1 page is the Index and the other is Chapter 1.  LOL

Wait a miniute.... was it Obama that just did a 25 billion $$$$ "bailout" to the big 3?

C'mon guy's... your man is still in office calling all the shots.... or how about the $95 billion the Treasury distributed to about 117.4 million households in "economic-stimulus" payments?  That idea really worked... or another $70 billion to continue Iraq through next year??? or the largest American Embassy building in the world @ $695 million... in Iraq?  There is plenty of crap to fling... Obama isn't even in office lets get our facts straight.

P/S:  I'll shut up now.

True enough John, but it isn't 2012 yet either.
Parent - - By Justin O (**) Date 01-08-2009 07:08
The reason he got the vote is because he told people what they wanted to hear not what he was going to really do.  Now were all screwed.
Parent - - By BryonLewis (****) Date 01-08-2009 14:32
We have to sit back and wait.  We gave Bush a chance.  Now its time to give Obama a chance.  Bush tried a stimulus it wasn't enough.  Every politician tells the people what they want to hear.  As we know things change over the course of a presidential term.  Hell look all that has happened over the last year.  2008 sucked.  Is it Bush's fault?  The Dems fault?  Wal Mart's fault?  Who knows, hind sight is always 20/20.  But foresight on the other hand, its often 20/400 in one eye and the other one is crossed.

It is what it is!  There is nothing that we can do but to cope, deal and pray that everything works out.
Thats my 2 cents.

jon,
Help me out here. Would you be in support of Obama's projected 800 Billion dollar stimulus package or against it?
I'm confused as to whether you think Bush's 95 was a bad idea in the first place or just not enough.  :>)
Parent - - By BryonLewis (****) Date 01-08-2009 14:36
Jon, I think next to the new embassy they should build the Geo. W. Bush Presidential Library.  They could get a bailout too.  And funding from HUD for "Urban Renewel". :-)

Since they are passing it out like candy, everyone is jumping on the band wagon!!

I could not find a link to the interview with Larry Flynt, but it was priceless.

Yeah, I saw that dirt bag from the Girls Gone Wild thing on CNN this morning.  Larry Flint too.  You've got to be fu**ing kidding me with that one.  Maybe Wal Mart needs a bailout as well, right.  With all the free porn on the Internet, who buys it anyways.
Parent - - By kipman (***) Date 01-08-2009 16:13
Bryon,
This is a fine example of political satire - don't take it seriously.  Larry Flint has spent his life battling local and federal governments on many issues, though primarily free speech related.  I fully expect him to actually try to get hearings scheduled, etc in an attempt to turn it into a circus - this would be a classic Flint tactic for highlighting how out of hand this bailout / economic stimulus thing has become.
Enough is enough.  I see that we the American taxpayers are into AIG for over 100 billion already - I never even heard of this company before this whole mess.  If you take $100 billion and divide it by everybody in the US (and presuming that there are 300 million people in the US), it equals out to $333 for every man, woman and child.  For my family of three, that's $1000 that I personally am having to give to AIG - and that is only one company!!!
Parent - By BryonLewis (****) Date 01-08-2009 16:21
Yeah I know about Flint's past exploits.  Hefner I like, he has always been a class-act.  But Flint and that Joe Francis guy are just fu**in' dirtbags.  I don't think that the bailout are out of had YET!  I think that the first bailouts like AIGs were really rushed because of election time.  But I think that since those turned into a thorn-in-the-side that Obama and Company is going to take a more cautious approach to who gets what.  Hopefully the right people and the right industries get the Lion's share.

Kipman,
You have hit the nail on the head!!

Parent - By DaveBoyer (*****) Date 01-09-2009 05:04
IF I had had any respect for Larry Flint, I would have lost it if He hadn't asked for a bailout.
What the heck, maybe He wants to buy a Chinese bank too.

Yes, I agree, this is political satire, and He will play it for all it is worth.
Parent - - By jrw159 (*****) Date 01-08-2009 16:16
I don't think them asking for a bailout is any more rediculous than the auto industry. If we bail out the porn industry we may get a kiss along with the screwing. With the auto bailout, we just get screwed!!!!

This does not go to say I am for the "porn" bailout, I say F*k them, but on that note, I say F**k them ALL, porn and auto!! :-)

Parent - By BryonLewis (****) Date 01-08-2009 16:31
If the broads that worked in porn had a union or the number of people that rely on the auto industry for jobs then they would get it too.  I think that it was Chris Rock that said, "Tax the puss*".

I can see it know the UAW merges with the Sex Laborers Local 69 in the San Fernando Valley.  LOL

All of the new American embassy buildings, anywhere in the world, are very expensive (I worked on the construction of one).  Remember the attacks on the embassies in Kenya & Tanzania?  They are not exactly the first places that come to mind when you think of the most dangerous places on earth.  The point is that all US embassies are potential targets and they are now retrofitting old ones and building new ones as such.
I would not consider a well built embassy compound to be a waste of money.

The big two are the ones who wanted the free handout, ford can wait for GM and Chrysler to fail and be the last american dog on the block? Who can blaim them for taking the money, would you want your competition to be bankrolled against you? The government is run on majority rule so any bill that can get a veto and voted back in anyway reguardless of who the President is, think of Fanny May and Freeloader Freddy. Barny Frank is one of the key thieves in office, look at who was running these two orgs and how much they got payed. Demohippocrats. Same people who got us beaten down into this eco-destate. Do you rellay believe this wasnt part of big governments plan? After a while its hard to think for ourselves and see some light in the tunnel of hope. I think if we all bear down we can survive this if not go bury all of your cash cause its not going to be worth anything when the UN takes over the military and we start using the new currency that is stored somewhere waiting to be our new Tender.

1.2 TRILLION??? To who the guy who $tole 25 Billion under the governments watchdogs? Change is here!
Hope 2009 is better than 2008 but Obamma wont be the reason. The american people can fix most of the woes and hopefully without the governments involvement.

Happy New year and best to all who keep trying while you help those you can.

I say no to ALL bailouts.... ALL of them.

EDIT:  Addressing Bush's 95 Billion $ "stimulus" package..... I thought it was a hair-brained idea, the only thing it stimulated was a few bank accounts.  Don't get me wrong, any time I can get a check from the Treasury I'll gladly take it, I just think those funds could have been put to better use.
