Merry christmas

what kind of downhill weld u asking for.. i would say it would be mig gun hardwire or pulse ?  i would never weld downhill if its stick rod ,tig, fluxcore mig gun..   i myself inspected weld testing downhill isn't the best idea for piping jobs ..

Isn't it great when someone chimes in that can barely type and busts your chops when you are trying to help someone out. I am sure the pics were appreciated.

dont look too bad man looks way better than mine lol... i always get stuck welding that junk pipe that just melts away when u touch it i had to turn my machine down to 190 and about 25 to keep it from blowing out... and some of the pipe was magnitized

on your filler metal try making it even all the way to the top of the bevel.that way when you cap it will be even all the way around. and only grind in the weld zone .not on the pipe wall. it will make a big difference on the way it looks.

thanks for the advice ill will try that....also how does my root looks?
Parent - By okwelder82 (***) Date 01-18-2009 03:18
Not to bad but as far as the root goes, when I was first learning I kept working at it to get it as uniform are I could get all the way around. It all depends on the inspector but all inspectors will want penetration all the way around but some will want it to look just like a wedding band all the way, tie ins and all. Keep working at it, its looking good.
