Watch out for Bob Long or Harold Lucas of Tomball Texas. He claims he operates under a company name called RLC Houston, and conducts scam/fraud/fraudulent activities against welding/steel supply companies across North America
he writes this to a potential victim............................
The weld overlay is to be a minimum of .125 inches thick and needs to be applied over the "inside wetted surfaces" (marked in red) of each carbon steel head up to but not including the gasket seal surface. Central engineering is trying to get the heads protected as quickly as possible with a material that their department developed to resist corrosion and wear in a specific service. The carbon steel heads have not been in service but do have some flash rust on the surface to be overlaid which will require sand blasting or grinding before the overlay is done. They are trying to save time by not applying the overlay to the gasket surface which if they did have it applied on that surface would require pre and post weld machining.
If any head warps, then the gasket sealing surface will have to be undercut, welded, and machined to the original dimensions along with a phonograph finish for the spiral wound gasket to seal against.
The weld metal that engineering has specified is IN6003578 (one of our specs). Due to the damage inflicted on South Texas in September of 2008 by Hurricane Ike, the only surviving vendor with any stock of IN6003578 is B and L Materials here in Houston, TX. Their phone number is xxx-xxx-xxx and their email xxxxxxxxxx@xxx.com.
We have about 135 of these heads at various sites around the country and Canada that require the same overlay. We are going to have the heads at the sites with the worst problems overlaid first. We also have more applications that require this same overlay to deal with and are looking for shops to help us with this long term corrosion issue.
The work will be done on a labor, equipment, and materials basis with overtime and break in charges authorized.
Please let me know if you can provide the requested service on an expedited basis.

What he does is send test material to qual then charges a nice fee for the materials and is gone.
He has hit many places for up to $14,000
