I know i see some guys on here asking for pointers about tig and stick welding well I have come across a guy online he has a few videos on youtube promoting his videos and thought I'd share them with you here is his link http://www.youtube.com/user/mdtread
His website is on there as well. I am not trying to help sell this guys product I just thought he had some really nice videos so good that he teaches alot of tricks that I didn't learn in school and just wanted to pass it onto some of the people here who maybe interested in tig welding pipe or even stick welding pipe. This is the best videos I have come across so far.

I didn't buy the entire set, Mig / wire feed welding has never been a problem for me, down hill pipe is so specialized, and this late in my life I will never need that skill. So I bought the up hill pipe, (SMAW) and Tig pipe series. Having an extensive structural welding background I really never had the opportunity to weld much pipe, just handrail and the sort.

I got the DVD's today, so far I have watched about half of the first DVD for SMAW uphill pipe, and the first two DVD's of the Tig pipe series. I have to say I' am impressed! If any of you don't have the time or means to go back to school to upgrade your skills, or you're just starting out I highly recommend the videos I have. It is just like looking over someone's shoulder while they're welding! Only difference is he, (Michael) cannot hold your hand, and walk you through it, but it is very close! I'm truly amazed at the clarity of the Tig welding video; you can watch every ripple lay right in.

I checked with my local community college, I could not get into the pipe welding class without first taking the beginning welding course! I'm not going to waste my time or money doing that! So these videos fit my needs very well! Maybe they'll work for you too! ;o)

Thanks Iron head 49 glad the videos helped you. Yeah I was very amazed how in detail just from his youtube videos of how much detail he went into. I to went to school learn to tig and stick weld pipe uphill but gosh it's been so long since I've done it and I'll probally be ordering a couple of his dvds as well. I have thought I could go back to school for a refresher course but I just don't have the time to do that.

Hi Chris!
You tube doesn't really do his DVD's justice! Or it could be the difference between my monitor, and my TV I don't know.
I found myself chuckling a few times watching the DVD's. Michael keeps it real, down to earth. You can tell he is one of us, not some actor who is reading a script!

i saw that the other day. the videos looked good, but when i went to his site the sales pitch scared me. kinda made it sound like all you have to do is watch the videos and you'll be an expert pipewelder. glad to hear it's not BS. might have had some used car salesman do his site for him. thanks

Hi slag72!
You know the old saying, "can't judge a book by it's cover". LOL

Nothing is going to make you an expert pipe welder but lots and lots of practice! I look at these videos as a teaching / learning aid. One of many things I like about the videos, he makes mistakes, and shows you how to correct.
To be honest I never really looked at the quality of the web site, I was more interested in the quality of the video. What good is it if we can't see the weld / puddle?!!!!!!!!
I was watching more of the Tig videos yesterday; Michael said he paid $425.00 for an auto lens (to go in front of the camera I guess) it is just like looking through your own hood! I kid you not! :o)
