There's a lot of ways to go about it, but the most common way I've seen around the local area is to just build everything off a skid in the back of the truck.  It's WAY easier than trying to bolt everything down to the stock truck bed.  I'd recommend you bolt the skid down though.

My two cents, make sure you can get at the machine and have sufficient room to move around in the back.  IMO, if you have the space left over, I'd suggest using a greenlee box as a toolbox (You can cram whatever you need in there!), though topside toolboxes will leave more room in the truck for bottles etc.  Biggest thing is to keep everything neat and organized.  You'll save yourself a hell of a headache!

ok thanks man. ive got the basic idea in my head just trying to keep it from becoming one big cluster of leads and bottles and tool boxes has got me stumped. i think im gonna build bottle racks behind the cab then my machine then a space for my hoosier pole then a toolbox then jack rack. then figure out a way to put my leads and ex cord and remote cord neatly in there somewhere. oh ya and torch hose. plus another box for rod and other things. i dunno... like i said pics would prob help alot.

2nd picture down in Root Pass's post (Black Dodge) is Lynx Welding (Shane Reid) from Airdrie, Alberta.  He is a member over on the Miller forums.

Follow the link to his Truck Picture Gallery - 2 versions - 1st Version 1 box/side, 2nd Version 2 boxes/side.

Two more Canadian sites of "Tub Rigs" to give you some ideas:

http://www.acemfginc.com/html/products/welding_skid_units/index.cfm

and

http://www.expresscustom.com/accessories/misc/index.php

Take some time and surf around both sites.... LOTS of neat ideas for you to look at.
