Ok, Lincolnchic gave me an idea with her pics. We've seen all the decked out rigs and stuff, how about your favorite hood? Or one you got bored with and painted up for kicks. Or maybe your a sticker nut and have 800 stickers plastered on that small area somehow, I've seen Ironworkers hardhats that I swear the stickers weigh as much as the hardhat!

Heres my regular I did a few weeks ago, silver base coat, translucent blue over top and a clear coat! Yeah, had some time on my hands! Kinda like now.....

looks good I've got a Fiber metal hood painted like the texas flag my brother inlaw did it for me i'll get some pics later

Whats that on top? Circle square something?  Really like that colour of blue cumminsguy and a great job for sure.

yeah, some simple graphics I did, a black square overlapping a silver circle. I'll try and find the color or at least brand name of that blue. It really looks good under the sunlight. Been planning on getting another jackson to work on over time, but bought a pancake last week and as one guy said, "you've only got one head!" I did another one earlier, called it my "just so easy" hood. Had question marks all over it, dark blue with red graphics and "just so easy" across the top. For all the naysayers who think what we do is simple. Pretty much the smart azz coming out in me.

up-ten, the blue paint I used was from Advance auto, it is dupli color MetalCast anodized surface color system. The cap was a blue metallic shiny thing.

Thanks for looking into that Shawn. That paint didn't get too pricey,did it? I'll bet that helmet can take a few scrapes and drops before it shows any damage. Again, a great job! Bob.

No, it was only about $5-6 for a can and only used about half...maybe. Yep, it's been dropped, actually the first day I got it done. It's got a couple nicks but they match well with the burn marks!!

And that will complete the authentication. Maybe I should post a pic of my old hood, it'll be good for a laugh!

If you want to see an ugly hood, I could post a pic of mine after working under vehicles doing exhaust work.  Talk about some slag drops and ugly stuff on your lense, everything finds its way on the hood on in an ear.

all jokes aside, I'm thinking of painting my helmet similarily to the above, but with unicorns that piss rainbows (no joke)
A) because no one wants to be bossed around by a guy wearing a pink hood with kittens and unicorns
B) I never have to worry about it being stolen
C) it's hard to mispace a bright pink hood

I have a pink phone with a little duct tape holding it togeather. I've never lost it and no one wants to steal it.

Here's my Tacking hood, if you notice, it has the flip up lens for when you need to grind out a tack :)

ctacker.....I think your missin' the hood! :-) Good idea though, I have the remains of my auto layin on my desk in the shop, never thought about using it for tackin with the mig.
