I recently purchased a new Victor CA2460 cutting head with the 315FC torch body, and I'd like a regulator set to match up to it: I'm going shopping on EBay!

I'd like a Victor SR-250 Oxygen and SR-260 Acetylene equivalent regulator set. I specifically want to avoid the light duty equipment geared for the home user.

Items on EBay often have pictures, but no model number. How do I tell the model from a picture?

Harris and Smith make good equipment, too; but I know less about their products.

Could someone offer tips on how to find the Victor, Harris, or Smith regulators?

Do a search on eBay for all categories.
You can look at all the products on the manufacturers websites and become familliar with them.
Victor seems to make 3 different lines geard for different markets, they might be hard to tell apart visually. I am not sure if the quality is better with the more expensive units, but the waranty is longer.
I like the 2 stage Airco/Conoa regulators Myself.

i recently bought two Victor Journeyman size O2 regulators.  Brand new in boxes and they had pictures.  I would stay with only the ones that have pictures and also direct buy option.  Type in Victor O2 or Accy regulators and stuff will come up.

One thing I would have advised, when buying oxy-fuel cutting equipment is as follows:

If you are buying a cutting torch, buy a cutting torch.  I am not in favor of buying combination torches.  To me, a combination torch is like using a crescent wrench.  Having a good cutting torch, along with the correct sized tip for the job, makes all the difference in the world.  Both Smith and Victor make good equipment.

I guess I've never used a 'cutting torch', then. All I've ever used in my (1988 until today... ugh!) 21 years are the 'combination torches.'

I still haven't found a way to tell the good regulators by sight, though. Maybe it isn't possible.
