What a more versital wire feeder, a miller wire S-22P12 or a Super S-32P. I think the S-22P12 will weld thinner material. Do both run the same wire sizes and can both run high amps. say 400 amp? It will be runing on a cc/cv big D40 40 to 440 amps. Thanks Jim

Jim: You are right about the 22P-12 welding thinner material. This is because the feeder operates on a constant 24 volts that comes through the control cord. The 32P operates on arc voltage (called voltage sensing) so if you wanted to weld at 15 volts the feeder has only 15 volts to operate on. Most voltage sensing feeder work best at above 18 volts. As to high end both feeders are rated to push 5/64 wire so they will run at 400 amps.

Mike
with a contractor in the feeder, to make the gun cold when not welding, will the Big D 40 still be able to have a range of 40 thru 400 Amps.. Thanks Jim

Jim: Yes it still will do 400 amps. The feeder and the contactor will not limit the output of the machine.
