I have seen alot of talk about the fowler machine on here. Just looked the site up but it didn't have alot of information about it. I'd like to know what makes them so good?

Its like taking your camaro to the hotrod shop and getting it hopped up . Fowler hops up lincoln's  . Adds this and that and does away with nick nacks that you don't need .  Basically he trims off the fat and adds muscle to your 'money maker' .

The name Fowler is what makes them so good. If Kaye Sellon says the man is a welder whisperer thats some pretty heavy rankings in the welder repair world.

could the conversion be done on a shorthood? now that would be cool

tigrooter, just curious; Did you buy the STT power wave or the Miller power source.
You were debating this late in 2008 as to what power source to buy.
We do have an STT power source and it is a very nice machine.  We just completed a procedure on duplex piping.
First pass was done with filler 100X [0.045] (STT) and remainder was completed with filler 2209[0.045]FCAW.
All side bends and tensiles passed.

I got the miller and it's the best process i've ever run a root with. have not done any jobs with stainless yet but have played with some duplex i had in the scrap pile. used rmd root and pro pulse fill all with .045 2209 wire no test but looked good. wish i knew they were coming out with the new pipeworks machine i would have got it. you don't have to change everything around just select your process and weld. who do you work for if you don't mind me asking.

Hi there, glad you like your power source.  I guess no matter what we buy we hope that we do make the
right decision because it's always costly when it comes to our pocket book.
You ask me who i work for, well i teach welding, so i like to be on top of all those new gagets.
Having said that we do a lot of procedures for companies.  I am from canada.
I'm atttaching a sample of a stainless steel welding coupon with no purging.
The root pass is what you see; i think the quality is excellent.
Completed with the STT process.

Thats a good looking root. I think you should have no problem teaching this process. If a student can't get this down they sould be inspecting haha. wish the invertech machine had pulse like the powerwave machine. The powerwave is just to big I like my machines to be moble so I can put them where I need them.

Yup you are correct and his name is Jay Korus very good with machines and only about 20 miles from my house went and saw him monday when the bottom alt. bracket bolts broke off and got a new bracket and some pointers you caould say he is the male version of Kaye. He built a machine for his brother thats a 200 machine with a newer diesel motor in it no it's not a yanmar the engine is made by continential

Parent - - By JHarlos (**) Date 04-01-2009 02:30
I was trying to look up fowler mainliners and came up with hiberweld is that the correct site?
Parent - - By tigrooter (**) Date 04-01-2009 03:11
yes. not alot on the site about it
Parent - - By pypLynr (***) Date 04-03-2009 03:25
No its not ... its ' hybriweld.com'
Parent - By stanantonio Date 04-03-2009 23:33
yeha fowler makes a good machine. But honestly I think wyoming welding works makes a better machine.  I believe he worked under Tom.  His machines are basically the same but puts alittle more attention in them.  An old short hood completly redone, cut down, with a yanmar diesel and all stainless coverings will cost you about 11 to 14k.  As soon as pipeline work picks up I will be purchasing one.
