My dad picked this up for me a few years ago in Portland. It's case looks to be made out of an early Masonite, and the stinger has a factory wooden handle. Today I got it out and made a few little welds with dad, just for fun. In true old school fashion I chipped slag without safety glasses on... and landed a nice piece of pepper on my eyeball. It came out easy and I laughed it off.
Enjoy the pics...
Jake
Still works too. That's interesting. Why did you have to chip it? With that set up you would think the slag would just peel off :) Yea, eyeballs are slag magnets. Glad it came out and not serious.
Ha ha yeah... I probably won't be capping any boiler tubes with this one :)
That is cool. You dont want to sell it do you? :)
Hmm...I don't know. I don't even know what it's worth. I've only tried it 3 times in 3 years, just for the fun factor.
Hello Jake, that's a pretty awesome bit of nostalgia. Would I be correct in guessing that it is supposed to be a 75 amp machine? Do you have any more history on it? Thanks very much for sharing it on here. Best regards, Allan
I just Google mapped the address with "street view" clicked on... it looks like where the factory was is the projects now. A couple huge apartments, an empty lot, a liquor store, and the commuter train going by on the tracks above the streets.
AWESOME, thanks for the post.
pretty cool thanks for sharing
That stinger looks like an old school version of the Lincoln T-300
Looks like you're burning vintage rods, too.
Yeah, I think they came with the welder actually. 1/16" diameter, 7 inches long. The smoke smells like 6011...sort of. No numbers on them.
Oregon Jake,
That is one awsome peice of history. :-) Thanks for sharing with us. (Green with envy) LOL
