Hello All
Quick question for anyone that runs one of these. I just bought this one a few weeks ago new and it allways when shutting it off, it speeds up first then shuts off, is this normal? This mornin went out to job and bottoned up a new well and the dang thing would not shut off only speeded up when turned off
finaly choked it to kill it, started it back up and same thing again. Now I get back home thinking I had better unhook the battery, fired it up and it started working again, speeds up and shuts off.

I've got a ranger 250 w/ about 2000hrs I remember it doing that when I got it . It wasn't new but only had about 200 hrs . It fixed its self don't ask me how. It runs fine now . make sure you let idle a while before you shut it off
Ok thanks
I will run it a bit longer and see what happens
I have one too and I have 800 hours on it and it still idles up before shutting off.
Don't know if this fits Ranger or not BUT... I got a BoBCat that got idle(turtle) & faster speed(rabbit) for welding & I have to turn bac down to idle before I kill it or it will backfire! Does the Ranger have same type of set up & if so, try idling it down before YOU kill it! Don't know????
I recall corectly the miller will stay at idle for power, the lincoln's kick up for power. different anamals. Yes mine is in the idle mode before shutting down but it kicks up first
thats normal for the ranger series of welders dont ask me why they do that maybe to burn off any excess fuel in the carb i dont really know
Kohler engine????? clean the fuel solenoid in the belly of the carb--its sticking......
Hello K
No this one has the ubu engine.
Do these shut the fuel off to shutdown?
Tom
Well I awnserd my own question, looked in the manual and there is an electric fuel shutoff valve in the bottom side of carb. pulled it out and naturaly you have to take front engine cover off to disconect the wire, tested ok, cleaned it and put her back together. Now it does shut off a little faster.
Time will tell
Thanks
Tom
I have one with a Koehler engine at 3000 hours. It has done the same thing since I tookit out of the box. One day I was cleaning the carb and seen how the shut off works. It has a plunger that goes into the main jet when you flip the switch to off. All I can figure is that when the plunger goes into the main jet it pushes that little bit of fuel that is in the jet up into the carb causing that little burst before shut down.
My 2002 Miller Bobcat has done that from day one. Kind of thought it was normal.
Robert--you are correct
