Thanks, that is what i thought , an AI has made issue with a cert that has NB reported but the spec has CB.
I had gone through this before and was only looking for confimation.
Any other input on the subject would be welcomed.
if your gonna tell an AI he is wrong better have the right info.

That Wikepedia article on niobium is actually quite good.

js55 you agree they are the same?
If the cert Has NB and the spec has CB how would you handle this?

There is not a CB on the Periodic chart, at least that I can remember

Its just a question of informing whoever is questioning it.

It's the same metal, that's called Columbium in the USA and Niobium in Europe and here in Brazil. Correct symbols are Cb (not CB, as you wrote) for columbium and Nb (not NB, as you wrote) for niobium.
So, don't worry, Cb and Nb written on a specification are the same thing.
By the way, Wolframium (symbol W) and Tungstenium or Tungsten (symbol Tg) are also the same metal, so if someone says WIG instead of TIG, they're referring to the same welding method (joking, in my almost 50 years dealing with welding I've never heard someone saying WIG)

I know some welders who wear WIG(s)!

Prof Crisi,

You're not joking! There is a WIG welding (wolfram-inert gas).

Joey
