I was always under the thinking that if a person welded a performance test plate with lets say 1/8 7018 then he was qualified for that size, all smaller and 1/32" larger electrode. Upon diving a little deeper in D1.1 I notice that is for WPS not welder performance. I dont see electrode size listed as an essential varible under welder/operator perfomance though. Does this mean any electrode size for performance qualiifes for all electrode size?
