I believe this is the code an A.I Inspector just gave me on some prints. Can someone verify if this code is correct and if so, what does it mean?

Here is some information about what B31 is:

About B31.1-2007
This code prescribes minimum reguirements for the design, materials, fabrication, erection, test, and inspection of power and auxiliary service piping systems for electric generation stations, industrial institutional plants, central and district heating plants. The code covers boiler external piping for power boilers and high temperature, high pressure water boilers in which steam or vapor is generated at a pressure of more than 15 PSIG; and high temperature water is generated at pressures exceeding 160 PSIG and/or temperatures exceeding 250° F.

Would you link a copy of the ASME B31.1 2007?

Juan,

I don't know if there are any free links to ASME B31.1.

Here is a link where you can purchase the code
http://catalog.asme.org/Codes/PrintBook/B311_2007_Power_Piping.cfm

There may also be options with lower cost..  Hopefully some of the others on the fourm here will have something to say that will help you get it.

I think you need to bite the bullit on paying for one. I don't know of free links.
And if you have AI involvment you also need ASME Section I because you are now talking about boiler external piping.
And before you buy make sure you get the latest Section I and then read the new list of approved code references. Section I has not yet approved the latest 31.1.
But then the question is, if you have AI involvment how is it you don't have these already?
You would need them to pass an audit.

What? AI involvment? I don't get the meaning of that. Either way I have the ASME I 2007, but what you just said about section 31.1 is not approved yet is great. Where can I see the latest edition available of each code?

Thanks

What I intended was that you need to make sure what edition of B31.1, or any other reference code or standard for that matter, the curent Edition of Section I has approved.
Once you go BEP Section I becomes the code of priority. There is a list of approved reference codes. Table A-360.
So you can't just use the latest edition addenda of something. You need to make sure Section I has approved it.
And once you go BEP, the AI must be involved.
