I just got off a pipe piling job where I used a H&M band type in the horizontal position (pipe stucking out of the ground). This was a pain in the as$. It was almost a three man job to set up. One to hold the machine, one to hold the chain, and one to attach the chain together and tighten it up. Would these be easier to set up and deliver the same quality cut? They look smaller and I did not see a chain on pics in the link below.
they are lighter and easier to set up by yourself in this type of situation than H&M's or MATHEY's.The smallest one has a locking bar with set screw, and the other 2 sizes have chain & boomer.
I got 3 different Sawyers & I like'em.Easy to change size of pipe,no spacers(dawgs) to lose,easy & quick to set up,&more sizes of pipe to 1 machine.I got the 1.5"-4",3"-8",8"-14".
Thanks for the website. Checked it out and I'm fairly impressed, no spacers to keep track of and it gives you a nice square cut every time. Now they just gotta sell 'em up here and I'll hang one in the truck for sure.
Here is the tough weld web site, they are a branch of Sawyer, i have bought a lot of stuff from them with very good results. www.toughweld.com hope this helps.
Thanks Shad and Paul,I've got the toughweld site bookmarked. I think my old mathey fell off the deck one too many times and it hasn't cut square since unless thats an inherent characteristic of mathey bevellers.
