Must be new, novel concept I suppose.

I could almost see it being used in the repair field when your way up at the top of a roof or hidden in some confined space, a long ways from a power source and in a factory where you don't want to lug a gas motor welder around.

output is kinda weak though, lots of baby stringers...

Century has had a rechargable welder on the market for a while, as well as a feeder that was ment to be hooked to car batteries. The Ready Welder & Go Welder are spool guns set up to be run by car batteries.

I don't know about the Hobart, but from the pictures & literature I have seen on the others I don't think they are really "industrial" quality in spite of what the manufacturers say. Since the origional Hobart company has been split up, I have My doubts about thier stuff too.

yah, it was actually court ordered when whoever bought it (lincoln, miller, esab?)  That Hobart industrial product lines be discontinued and they can only continue in the home/ hobbyist market. So they sort of have that reputation now.

Miller owns that part of what was Hobart.
